GPS (Global Positioning Systems)
All Dean Transportation vehicles are equipped with state-of-the art GPS technology. This GPS technology increases student safety and driver accountability while reduce fuel consumption. Dean Transportation partnered with Zonar Systems, a leader in pupil transportation technology, to install over 800 units in 2008/2009.
Child On-Board Reminder Systems
All Dean School Buses are equipped with child on-board reminder systems. Child on-board reminder systems ensure each driver completes a post trip inspection and no child is left on-board a vehicle. If a driver fails to complete a post trip inspection, the vehicle produces an audible and visual alarm thirty seconds after the vehicle is turned off.
All Dean School Buses are equipped with two-way communication devices. In rural areas, if two-way communication is intermittent, a driver will carry a cellular phone to insure they have communication to base at all times.
All new special education vehicles come equipped with seat belts. In addition, Dean utilizes state-of-the-art child safety seats and advanced tie down systems for wheelchair users.
Dean utilizes top of the line routing software in all of its operations. Routing software helps to increase logistical efficiencies and reduces fuel usage for school districts. Dean currently utilizes Tyler's Versa Trans Route Planning software and Wayne RESA's PolyPlot software.
Dean uses an advanced fleet maintenance software program to track vehicle inspections, preventive maintenance and repair costs. This program allows fleet managers to predict issues that may arise with certain types of vehicles and or model years.
